PHILOSOPHY
Most brokerage firms have an investment committee that may consist of the Director of the Research Department (where the analysts work), the economist, and a senior portfolio manager. This committee selects a few of the stocks recommended by its analysts and creates a "buy list" or "core list" for the firm generally comprised of 20-30 stocks.
Our Brokerage Buy List portfolio consists of stocks that currently appear on the core recommended lists of at least three of the 12 Leading Brokerage Firms. These firms actively sell the stocks on the "buy lists" to their institutional and retail clients, which often drives the price up. These stocks tend to be large-cap, "blue chip" companies, most of which are members of the S&P 500. This portfolio is designed for conservative, long-term investors.
